Libya and INEAS Forge Collaboration July 7-8, 2025 in Tunisia

As part of its mission to foster regional health development, IHM International / IHM Africa facilitated a significant new collaboration: on July 7–8, 2025, a high-level Libyan delegation held its initial official working session with INEAS(Tunisia’s National Authority for Health Evaluation and Accreditation) experts in Tunis.

This pivotal meeting centered on health evaluation systems, institutional alignment, and capacity building. The Libyan delegation also attended a dedicated conference, organized in partnership with IHM, which boosted momentum towards shared frameworks for quality assurance and accreditation across Libya, Tunisia, and the broader African-Arab region.

A technical workshop was integral to this collaboration between the Libyan Government’s Health Institutions Accreditation Authority and INEAS. This workshop offered the Libyan delegation the opportunity to explore Tunisia’s pioneering experience in health institution accreditation and to benefit from its established frameworks and successful standards.

The workshop concluded with the signing of a preliminary protocol agreement between the two parties. This agreement aims to bolster cooperation and the exchange of expertise in developing high-quality healthcare services and accrediting health facilities based on international standards.

Additionally, it was agreed to hold a second workshop in Benghazi, Libya. This follow-up will focus on reviewing health accreditation standards and will include on-site visits to both public and private hospitals in Benghazi to assess their readiness for accreditation
