ICESCO organized the African Women's Excellence Oscar.

In December 2023, IHM had the honor of participating in the African Women’s Leadership Excellence Forum, a powerful gathering celebrating women who lead with courage, vision, and heart. This event brought together exceptional women leaders, change-makers, and institutions from across the continent to share experiences, amplify impact, and inspire the next generation.

Through its presence, IHM conveyed a strong and universal message: greatness of soul can unite people and place science at the service of humanity. More than a medical institution, IHM demonstrated its unique capacity to blend health, knowledge, compassion, and purpose — highlighting how leadership rooted in values can build bridges across regions, cultures, and generations.

This participation marked a new chapter in IHM’s ongoing mission to empower women in healthcare, foster inclusive excellence, and promote pan-African solidarity.

Honoring Female Excellence: Pr D. Georg Votava

 Awards Dr. Amira Aboud in Guinea

During a landmark event celebrating women’s leadership in Africa, Pr Dr Georg Votava had the great honor of presenting the Oscar of Female Excellence to Commander Dr Amira Aboud, the very first female surgeon in Guinea. This powerful gesture symbolized the recognition of courage, resilience, and pioneering achievements in the medical field.
Dr. Amira Aboud has paved the way for generations of women in a sector long dominated by men. Her dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to saving lives have earned her national and continental respect.
By bestowing this distinction, Pr Votava and IHM underscored their deep commitment to empowering women in medicine, particularly in countries where female leadership in healthcare still faces many challenges. It was more than just an award – it was a tribute to the power of vision, excellence, and the unstoppable strength of African women.
